Select Board · Meeting of January 7, 2026
Nahant Select Board approved two appointments and weighed regionalizing veterans services. Members voted 2-0 to appoint Kelly King as Council on Aging Director, replacing Mary Minor, and 2-0 to hire Douglas Cronin as a full-time firefighter pending a physical exam. A fire department official called the current station's space "dangerous," noting apparatus clear bay doors by "inches" and that heating a temporary equipment tent cost about $3,300 in one recent month.
The board also discussed replacing retiring veterans agent John Lazar, possibly through a Lynn-Swampscott regional arrangement, and will revisit the question in two weeks. Town Administrator Allison Nieto said she is projecting a conservative 2 percent revenue increase for the fiscal year 2027 budget.
