Nahant's Select Board confirmed the town is now compliant with the state's MBTA Communities housing law, dodging a lawsuit filed against nine other towns. Interim Town Administrator Allison said the state's Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities sent confirmation January 22, and the board is still awaiting Attorney General review of its bylaw language. The board unanimously approved permits for an April 12 beach cleanup and the June 27 Good Hope 5K road race, which organizer Stevani said raised $20,000 last year for a well in Africa.
Allison also disclosed a long-unpaid $30,000 MAPC invoice and moved up the board's next meeting to February 11 to unveil level-services and override versions of the FY27 budget. Resident Carrie Collins pressed officials on Little League lighting costs and the town's Northeastern University land case, saying "I want Nahant to be a place where my retirement isn't through the roof."
