NAHANT — The Nahant Community Preservation Committee reviewed two ecological restoration grant requests and a $40,000 ask for the stalled Town Hall ramp project. Chair Lynne Spencer presided as the committee considered a $49,000 Lodge Park grant and a $48,900 Bailey's Hill grant, both offset by $3,000 contributions from Nahant Swim, for invasive species removal and native plantings. Member Dave Wilson, a former DPW worker, pressed the Open Space Committee's Trish on whether the town itself should fund slope safety repairs, saying old guardrail posts "are in like four feet" and hard to remove.
Interim Town Administrator Allison Nieto disclosed a still-unpaid 2022 invoice from MAPC for the Open Space Master Plan after funds meant to cover it were reverted to the general reserve. Architect Richard Smith said a prior $158,000 ramp estimate needs an inflation bump, and the panel is targeting a June 1 bid date pending May 16 town meeting funding approval.
