Select Board · Meeting of April 15, 2026
Nahant's Select Board honored outgoing member Gene Cantieri and approved a $1.2 million zero-interest MWRA loan for water meter replacement. Town Administrator Allison Nieto will sign the loan documents under a 3-0 roll call vote. The board opened and closed the annual town meeting warrant, sending a restructured budget article to the Advisory and Finance Committee with three options: a level-services plan, a $1 million override funding four firefighters, and a $650,000 alternative adding $208,000 to call-firefighter funding.
A bid to shorten April 25 election hours from 8 p.m. to 7 p.m. failed 0-2 after member Pat O'Reilly flagged a conflicting bylaw. Cantieri, thanked for two terms dating to 2020, said "it was a real pleasure working in the capacity I was in as a selectman."
