NAHANT — The Nahant Select Board voted unanimously to grant a new liquor license to Richland Convenience Store. Attorney Tom Truax, representing Nahant Richland Retail Corporation, told the board owners Rishi Raj Chauhan and Burba Patel gathered 122 petition signatures supporting the all-alcohol package store license, the town's first second option alongside Seaside Variety. Selectman Pat O'Reilly said he didn't "see the need" but wouldn't block it, while Gene Canty called himself "always in favor of competition." Six residents spoke in favor, including former Everett liquor board chair John Mackey.
The board also voted 3-0 to dissolve six inactive committees and approved up to $9,057,858 in Massachusetts Clean Water Trust financing for sewer infrastructure.
