Select Board · Meeting of March 25, 2026
Nahant's Select Board unanimously closed its Annual Town Meeting warrant after adding reworked language on a wireless telecommunications bylaw and a newly surfaced citizen's petition on pesticide regulation. Planning Board Chair Sheila told the board a building permit request from Crown Castle and T-Mobile exposed gaps in the town's 2009 wireless zoning bylaw, prompting a rewritten Article 21 with new emissions, light and sound reporting requirements. A second citizen's petition, Article 23, asks voters to authorize the Select Board to seek special legislation on pesticide application under Chapter 132B of the Massachusetts General Laws.
The board also heard the town is weighing a level-services budget against a roughly $1 million override driven by added fire department staffing, with the town averaging more than $1 million a year in grant funding since fiscal 2018. The warrant now moves to the Advisory and Finance Committee ahead of the May 16 town meeting.
